According to Eurogame, Forza 5 will only have 14 tracks, down from 26, with notables such as THE RING and SUZUKA gone.

!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! .

Also we drop from 500+ to a little over 200.

Fuck. Again.

Edit:

Just Found out the Ring will come as a DLC in January. No word yet on whether or not it will be free. Lets be honest, of course it will cost.

Expensive Fuck.

Great are they all going to be car and track packs or did lose a lot of their licensing rights? or did this base this off the online usage. I was pissed when they took the short tracks out of online play.

Bingo! Prepare for the new era of gaming where they are gonna milk us for the things that should have been included in the first place.

Its working for EA, Turn10 might like to grab a piece of that cake.

Turn 10 has been doing it since Forza 4 with their monthy car packs. It was even worse in Horizon, where they tried to make you pay for cars that THEY ALREADY HAD from FM4. I may have to cancel my preorder of the collector's edition if they keep this up. No ring? No buy.

I get the impression they've moved at least one track out of the game and into DLC, whilst they moved Bathurst onto the in game disc to counter GT6's recent press release

They made a significant shitload of cash on DLC, why not do it again.

no racer really cares about the car packs. I can only run 1 car at a time but I can go from one track to the next pretty easily. When I run out of new tracks to race on it starts to suck real fast.

To be fair, they gave you a lot of cars in FM4 to begin with. I didnt mind the extra packs of specialized cars. Or cars that were coming out (i.e. brz) at the time. Even FM3 had those packs as well. But it wasnt their main agenda to push them, and never penalized you if you didnt buy them.

Horizon, i agree. And then well see another forza by next winter.... with more dlc...

Ive completely lost faith in the mainstream gaming stuff because of these sale schemes. EA's takeover of battlefield ruined that series. I wish Turn10 would stay away from that.

This is why I'm not upgrading, or interested in Fivetza.

They spend all this time and their resources making the cars look incredible, which is nice yes. But they neglect to add more lcoations to take all their new shinys racing.

WTF good is a racing game with so few tracks? Fine, making the tracks look as good as the cars takes longer. I can believe that.

Solution: Don't release the game with fake tracks. They could have included only Prague as their new unrealistic racing venure and then only have the real tracks released with the game. Then, once they have the time after release to update their backlist of fake places they could then offer that as a DLC. Yes, it's a money grab, but it's a decent compromise. Those who don't want to spend the extra still have all the real places to race, while those who want more can pay for all the other ones. So long as they could release all the backlist as separate DLC they'd still make money on it as those who didn't like certain tracks wouldn't be forced to buy them.

Also, Exclusive License Agreements should be illegal. Because FUCK YOU EA for not letting anyone else have Porsche. And Porsche, you're stupid. Dumbasses.

Unless these tracks and 200 cars are utterly fantastic, I'm perfectly okay with still playing Forza 4 a little longer though.

There's a grand total of 11 cars I really want on the FM5 roster, as opposed to 33 in pre-DLC FM4.

Yeah, I won't be getting this game.

Neither will I be getting GT6. That's got a fairly crap selection too, bolstered by old crappy renders and multitudes of the same car.

Kinja'd!!! ncasolowork2 > Übel

Kinja'd!!!0

Do you buy the monthly DLC for Forza? The Porsche Pack? They're probably going to charge $10 for the Nurburgring in Forza 5. If you consider what you actually sink in to the 2 year cycle of 1 Forza game it is probably close to $250. If all you do is get the basic game and play it then you're definitely doing pretty good with the economics.

As far as iRacing goes I think if you get all of the content all at once it is probably ~$600. If you have no interest in oval racing because that's not your think probably $300. Considering what an XBox One costs and all the DLC that you can shell out for on Forza the reality is iRacing isn't really much more expensive. The other reality is you get what you pay for.

Kinja'd!!! Übel > ncasolowork2
11/07/2013 at 08:46

Kinja'd!!!0

Let's put it this way: To get 200 cars in iRacing (which I know is impossible) it would set you back around $1800 after discounts. Since we're apparently including console costs, you're looking at $600 for a PC. Then $300+ for a wheel(which is a necessity in iRacing. Not so in Forza). Then another $40 to hit 14 tracks. Plus $200 for two years of membership. So nearly $3k just to get what you can have for $560 with Forza. Oh, and Forza DLC is $10 for a whole pack of cars, not $11.95 for one. "You get what you pay for" my ass.

Kinja'd!!! ncasolowork2 > Übel
11/07/2013 at 08:55

Kinja'd!!!0

Listen if driving around 200 different cars is your thing then iRacing definitely isn't for you. Also if you pay full price for anything that's on you. Most people look for deals.

Logitech DFGT wheel: $70
2 years on Promo: $100
iRacing Credits Promo get $300 for $225: Get $300 in content which is pretty much all the road racing content.
Using any PC built within the last 6 years you already have it.

$295 for 2 years of iRacing. That's about the cost of 2 years of Forza if you factor in XBox Live and all that fun stuff.

And with regards to you get what you pay for... at iRacing you're paying for the racing not the content. If you get Forza because of the content and don't care about the racing then iRacing would certainly seem stupid to you.

Kinja'd!!! Übel > ncasolowork2
11/07/2013 at 12:11

Kinja'd!!!0

Well in that case, I can pick up Fourza, which is still a very relevant racing game, for $20 and the lion's share of the DLC for $50 ;)

And maybe I got a little too heated there. I'm not trying to say iRacing is stupid. I completely understand the point of iRacing, and I'd totally join in if I could afford the price of entry (doesn't help that if I'm going to buy a wheel, it has to be PC and Xbox compatible). I'm just trying to point out that maybe bragging about iRacing having "over 50 real world venues" in response to Forza 5 saving all of its tracks for DLC maybe isn't the best idea :p

Kinja'd!!! ncasolowork2 > Übel
11/07/2013 at 12:22

Kinja'd!!!0

The sticker shock that keeps people from trying iRacing frustrates me. When you really look at the amount of money you or others can spend on Forza there isn't much of a difference in price.

2 or 3 times a year iRacing has a buy $75 in credits get $25 free. If you buy $300 of credits you get $400. If you buy all the road racing content at once you get 25% off. Memberships are frequently half off and the wheel/PC necessary to run it isn't as extravagant as most people think.

I personally have $3k sunk in to it. I have a Fanatec CSW, Obutto cockpit, 3 screens and 100% of the content. You know I've probably NEVER even driven 10 or so of the cars I have? Not a single lap. The way iRacing is structured I tend to race 1 or 2 cars for 3 months at a time. If I had it all to do over again I'd probably save $300 on content by not getting stuff I'm not using.

Still based on the number of people I've referred ($10 per referral) and other things I've not actually spent nearly as much on content as you would if you paid full price for everything out of pocket.

When you combine that with the 2 year cycle for Forza a $120 collectors edition XBox Live Gold monthly DLC and a limited selection of wheels Forza becomes very expensive for a completely shitty online racing experience. I loved Forza 2. The online racing was a lot of fun. 3 and 4 were horrible in comparison. I'm not even going to be bothered with 5 since that requires $500 on a new console and another new wheel.

Kinja'd!!! Übel > ncasolowork2
11/07/2013 at 12:47

Kinja'd!!!0

Thing is, with Fourza, I picked up a used copy not too long after launch for $30. I already had an Xbox+Live subscription because I have several other games that I play, not just racing. I don't use a racing wheel because I'm perfectly happy using the controller for Forza (something that can't be said for sims), and since it comes with 500 some odd cars out of the box (many of which I've driven maybe once, just for the hell of it), I didn't feel the need to buy much of the DLC, aside from a couple cars I really wanted. All in all, on just Forza I've spent maybe $70 (including the Porsche pack) and I still enjoy playing it. However, just to get started with iRacing, no extra cars, I'd be looking at $170 *minimum* to get 1.4% as many cars and well under half the tracks. Plus, Forza has some great options for filthy casuals like myself who just want to screw around. I've probably spent 75% of my time either playing tag or buying cars, modding/customizing them, and toying with tuning setups just for fun.
